A Latvian ghost town, created when the Russians built a Soviet-era anti-missile radar station, has been sold to a private Russian investor for $3.1 million, reports AP.

The now abandoned "ghost town" was known as Skrunda-1, and at one time housed nearly 5,000 workers during the Cold War. It boasts apartment housing, nightclubs, eateries, and schools that are all in a state of ruin.
But 10 years ago, the Russians abandoned the small Latvian stronghold when the Soviet Union collapsed.

The ghost town is approximately 110 acres of falling down structures, and no plans for its intended future use have been shared with the public

Some Lativians have expressed concern that the former Russian military camp is being sold to the Russians, but the country is in desperate need of financial influx, and this is one way to obtain much-needed funds.

There are a number of Latvian videos about Skrunda-1, but this was the only one that had some English.. and a great shot of the tower in Skrunda being demolished
