A tourist attraction where thrill-seekers jump off the top of a 855ft tall building has opened in the US.

During the SkyJump decelerator ride in in Las Vegas, jumpers fall at 40mph from the 108th floor of the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino Tower held only by a thin cable.

A specially designed machine then controls the pace of the fall and guide wires keep riders - who each pay $99 - from straying off course.

Bosses say the attraction is said to offer stunning views during the 15 second fall… if you can bare to keep your eyes open.

A spokesperson for SkyJump Las Vegas said: "Between screams of excitement and the rush of wind in their hair, riders will experience an unmatched view of the city day or night and a thrill that will last a lifetime."

The attraction has been inspected by Guinness World Records which has declared it the highest commercial decelerator descent - breaking the previous record set by SkyJump at Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre with a height of 764.4 feet.
