moneyA Japanese man was arrested for throwing thousands of pounds onto the motorway.

The 49-year-old man was found flinging stacks of 10,000 yen notes - each worth an estimated $105 - from a tollbooth in the Aichi region, and has been detained in custody while police investigate the incident.

More than $30,000 worth of Japanese notes were handed into the authorities or recovered by police in the area, but police fear much may have been stolen as the man claims he had at least $75,000 in his pockets.

It is not yet known why the man, who had earlier abandoned his car in a lay by, had tried to dispose of his money.
