Food as fashion

Lady Gaga's meat dress may have gotten loads of attention, but she wasn't the first one to come up with the idea. Last year photographer Ted Sabarese shot a series of images called "Hunger Pains" which showcased models wearing garments made of the foods they craved the most. Models and designers came together for 16 hours to cook and create one-of-a-kind works of wearable, edible art. With ingredients like fresh waffles and pasta on set we wonder if people were able to resist sneaking bites of the tasty outfits.

Artichoke Hearts
This gown was designed by Daniel Feld and Wesley Nault (both Project Runway alums) and took over 6 hours to complete. Sabarese says "the model stood the entire time while they attached each individual leaf."

Bread
Who knew a carb craving could be this stunning?

Pasta

This model's outfit of woven and braided strands of spaghetti kept falling apart.

Meat
This pencil skirt constructed of slabs of meat looks tastier and more elegant than the meat dress Lady Gaga wore on MTV.

Waffles
We love the banana vest with carrot slices in the shape of argyle, but the waffle pants look downright delicious. Now pass the syrup!
