A Sydney teenager has been jailed for writing her name on the wall of a Sydney cafe.Cheyene Back pleaded guilty to intentionally or recklessly damaging property last month at the Hyde Park Cafe.
But Back immediately lodged and appeal after magistrate Ian McRae handed her a sentence of three months behind bars.
According to facts tendered to the court the Daceyville teenager was captured on CCTV footage writing her nickname '2Shie' on the cafe wall with black texta.
She was caught at the scenewith a group of about five youths by police .
Another one of the youths will face court later this afternoon.
Shadow Attorney General Greg Smith has told 2GB's Jason Morrison a no tolerance policy would deter vandals in the future.
"We've gone long enough playing around, saying 'isn't it awful' and cleaning the stuff off.
"It's time we did what they did in New York and Chicago and other places, where they started sending people to jail."
Back, who has no previous criminal history, has been granted bail until the appeal has been heard.
